Protaras - the night life?

The second largest and number of tourist attractions in this "end of the world", after the vast complex of Ayia Napa, is Protaras.

Our Leonardo Hotel is in the middle between these two cities.

10 km to Ayia, and 4 to Protaras.

“Being quieter than Ayia Napa and having less of a club scene, it has a reputation for being friendlier to family and Cypriot tourism.

In ancient times, where Protaras is now located, there was an old city-state of Leukolla. The city had a small safe haven where Demetrius Poliorketes sought refuge in 306 BC, in the time of Alexander the Great."

We went there for an evening walk (at the cool weather!) not really caring about antiquity. We saw many tourists (mainly Brits) for whom 15°C must be hot, because they looked like they were coming back from the beach…

We concluded that there were no advertisements in the Greek alphabet in the city, which meant that Protaras can be confused with any tourist destination on the Mediterranean coast.

Hotels, shops, bars, restaurants and the music that comes out of them are the same everywhere.

Unification and globalization apparently do not bother tourists, who do not feel lost in this way and feel as at home or as on a previous holiday in a different place.
