Hikkaduwa

“Hikkaduwa is a coastal town in south-west of Sri Lanka. It's a world famous beach holiday destination, well known for its scenic beaches, coral reef sanctuary, surfing and nightlife.

Hikkaduwa might be the most popular surf spot on the Sri Lankan south-west coast.

Located in the Galle District, Hikkaduwa is divided into three main areas : the Sri Lankan town, the very lively tourist area, and the residential area Thiranagama.”

At this time of year, the sun is almost always at its zenith until the afternoon. Shopping in the city is a challenge for the unprepared…

Another challenge was trying to buy a postcard to accompany a surprise letter for my old friend with whom we had been planning a trip to Ceylon in our youth!

Today's technology allows you to produce such a card yourself: a photo taken with a camera and printed out in a local store selling everything and beyond. Beautiful girls served us and allowed us to take photos. The letter  got sent out.

The first impressions of our stay here are the cleanliness and order of the surroundings. A big difference from other places in Asia.
