Sigiria

Sigiriya, in a free translation: "Lion's Rock" - an archaeological site in Sri Lanka, with the ruins of an ancient palace and fortress built during the reign of King Kassapa (473-491) on the top of a 180-meter-high rock. One of the seven places in Sri Lanka included in the list of world cultural and natural heritage.

Only the foundations of the palace and fortifications have survived to this day, as well as well-preserved paintings on the rock walls, most likely depicting ladies-in-waiting or royal concubines. The initial part of the stairs that emerge from between two stone lion paws has been reconstructed. For the convenience of tourists, comfortable stairs based on a steel structure were also built.”

I didn't like the prospect of visiting this place in the rain, and climbing to the top of the rock. So I stayed in our comfortable homestay.

Iwonka and Adek did go. They took photos. The visibility was poor. They got wet.

Can’t tell whether they liked the whole thing…
