Attractive beaches on the peninsula
Railay Beach is one of the highlights of a stay in the Krabi region.
Anyone visiting Ao Nang must experience this unique beach, tourist, and commercial complex.
There was no reason for us not to take a cruise and stay on this peninsula.
Although it's on the mainland, it can only be reached from the ocean, which is an additional element of the excursion.
The red line marks the route from Ao Nang to this beach complex from the west and east of the peninsula.
The boat ride takes 15 minutes plus the walk to the boat. Distance from shore depends on the tides...
“Railay known as Rai Leh, is a small peninsula between the city of Krabi and Ao Nang in Thailand. It is accessible only by boat due to high limstone cliffs cutting off mainland access. These cliffs attract rock climbers from all over the world, but the area is also popular due to its beautiful beaches and quiet relaxing atmosphere. (…)
Railay beach was not severely affected by the tsunami of 26 December 2004.”
We're not entirely convinced that Railay definitely offers a "peaceful and relaxing atmosphere." Crowds of tourists are already flocking here, but what will it be like during the festive season?
