The history of maritime navigation takes place in Szczecin
It's not every day that we get to witness historic events in our city.
Today's event is noteworthy, as it opens a new chapter in the history of Baltic ferry navigation between Świnoujście and Trelleborg (Sweden).
The Jantar Unity is an innovative ro-pax ferry, a vessel designed to transport trucks and motorized passengers. Designed with travel comfort, safety, and environmental protection in mind, it combines innovative technical solutions with comfort.

The M/F Jantar Unity is 195.6 m long and 32.2 m wide. Its load line is 4,100 m, meaning it will be able to transport nearly 200 trailers. It offers 400 passenger spaces and a crew of 50. The Jantar will be the most modern ferry on the Baltic Sea, reaching a speed of 19 knots. It is powered by four liquefied natural gas (LNG) engines and supported by a hybrid battery system. Instead of traditional propellers, two azimuth thrusters (7.5 MW each) are installed at the stern and two bow thrusters (2.5 MW each) at the bow, significantly improving the ferry's maneuverability.

The christening ceremony for the Jantar Unity ferry began at 3:00 PM. The vessel has been moored at the Chrobry Embankment in Szczecin since Thursday.
The ceremony lasted almost two hours, the officials gave appropriate speeches, and the godmother gave the ferry its name by smashing champagne against the side of the ship with a loud bang.
Here you can see the splatter and splash of the naming moment:
The birthday dinner, however, was colorful and hot.
The main course was MOCK CHICKEN.
