Corpus Christi procession in Krakow

At 9:00 a.m., it's raining heavily in Krakow. We're waiting to see what the weather will be like.

"As with all of Poland, Eucharistic processions are taking place in Krakow today, on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. In Krakow, the largest, central Corpus Christi procession departs from Wawel Castle and travels along the Royal Route to the Main Market Square. The ceremonies began at 9:00 a.m. on Wawel Hill. The weather this year is unfavorable, with rain falling, so the field altar at the cathedral was surrounded by the faithful under umbrellas. At the beginning of Mass on Wawel Hill, preceding the central Corpus Christi procession, Cardinal Grzegorz Ryś spoke about the logic of faith, which consists in receiving and passing it on."

We leave for the city around 11:00 a.m. (no rain) and follow the procession along Grodzka Street (flowers on the roadway guide us to our destination).

We stop at St. Peter and Paul, we follow the procession to the market square, admiring the excellent sound system along the entire route. Religious chants led by talented choristers and young priests can be heard.

In the Main Square, Cardinal Ryś celebrates Mass and delivers a sermon.

The weather likely prevented the market from being crowded (it didn't rain).

Our photo snapshots partially capture this ceremony.
