Barcelona Easter Thursday

EasyJet has brought us to the capital of Catalonia. It greeted us here with beautiful spring weather and huge traffic before Christmas on Thursday. Good Friday is a day off from work here.

Barcelona - is the second largest city in Spain. It occupies 100.4 km ² and has 1 621 537 inhabitants.

We are staying at Gaby’s – an  Argentinian who came to Europe for a few weeks and is renting an apartment from Mrs. Flora - a friend of Gaby’s parents’.

I have known Gaby for over 20 years! We met ages ago in New York.

On Holy Thursday we dipped ourselves  in the streets of the city and tasted the atmosphere of the Gothic Quarter which undoubtedly is the most climatic part of the city. The narrow streets in conjunction with medieval buildings create an atmosphere of mystery, harmony and beauty. The central part is the Sun Square (Plaça de la Seu) with the St Eulalia cathedral.

The evening ended with a "pre-Christmas" dinner  at a typical local time – 10pm (!) In the company of Pablo and Mateo’s – a Catalan and an Argentinian. The dessert was Polish, though.
