To Mandalay

Today is our turn:

After three days on Lake Inle, it was time to continue the journey. Towards the north of Myanmar, the former capital - Mandalay.

The British, when fully colonized the country in 1885, moved the capital to Yangon and named it Rangoon.

Before departure we made a morning visit to a monastery (with novices - students) giving them gifts during their daily route for alms. We had purchased exercise books, pens, pencils, biscuits and other trinkets in a small shop, thereby supporting local business and slightly enriching the poor monastic school.

Giving gifts is a whole ceremony, which is presented.

A city tour, lunch at a local restaurant (most of the group were thrilled), visiting the second most important country’s pagoda (after Shwegadon), and finally watching the sunset from the Myanmar Hill, where we enjoyed a panoramic views of the area.
