On the way to Kampot - takeo

From Phnom Penh, Sophea - our Khmer friend and irreplaceable contact in essential matters on the spot – is taking to Kampot in his minivan which can hold all our luggage (66 kgs – a bit over the airline limits).

Halfway there, we’re making a stop in Takeo, where Paweł lives - Our Man in Cambodia. I have already written about him, but I will certainly have a good opportunity to write more about him and his Cambodian life soon.

Kamel (short of Chameleon) - our new family member - is waiting for us there. He is Paweł's cat’s (Lucky) baby. He was supposed to be Kama, but cats have it that they reluctantly reveal their sex.

Kamel is a bit scared as of now - he's 5 months old, but I think he'll love us. He’s got no choice. He doesn’t know it yet, but he seems to feel the trip which is awaiting him – he runs away from us.

We’re staying here for the night, but first we made the necessary purchases for functioning in our home before we get the container with our belongings.

We are happy (!) with Chinese products from the store where everything costs 2,500 riels a piece (4000 riels = 1 dollar).

Then the market, where we buy gas cookers, mops, cleaning liquids, etc.

From tomorrow on, there will be a great cleaning action in our house which has been inhabited for over a year.

We end the day with beer during a huge monsoon downpour that lasted 20 minutes and the sun returned quickly. The temperature is slightly lower than in Poland during the hot weather this summer.

Pilnie Wam kibicujemy, gratulujemy udanego początku, prawie całkiem nowej drogi życia i to w dodatku z pierwszym własnym khmerskim kotkiem. Nie zapomnijcie kupić mu kuwetę !!! A te niezbędne 12 butelek to uda się kupić w Kampocie? Jakby nie, to dajcie znać, wyślemy ekspresem. Z utęsknieniem czekamy na ciąg dalszy.
