Monkey business and swine problem

Today we are off to the north-east part of the island for a 3-day relaxation from the busstle of Kuta and Saminyak.

The drive is long because of a heavy traffic on the only road.

We make a stop in Ubud. We visit Monkey Forest and have lunch in alocal restaurant.

The forest and the temple are infested by monkeys which are a tourist attraction bringing money to the town. What do the monkeys get out of it? Packs of curious tourists and a little banana from tike to time. A banana here costs much more than aywhere else...

Thus the monkeys don't do any good business, so they take their revange snatching eye- glasses or other small objects form tourists. Just a monkey business.

We had lunch in one of IBU OKA restaurants which should be very "local" and inexpensive but turned out to be a typical tourist trap. In IBU OKA restaurants they serve a suckling pig and its variations.

Chicken and pork is the meat they eat here, since hiduism prevails in Bali.

We chose not to look at the back of the retaurant from which some sound came, apparently of not too happy chicken and pigglets. This is the swine problem in which the pigs are the worst off...
