To Prague, not to Praga

We are catching up in visiting the capitals of European countries!

Time for the Czech Prague

Have you been wondering (or maybe you know) why this capital is called that?

According to tradition, the original Czech name of the city of Praha comes from the Czech word práh.

The etymology of the name of the city built over the threshold or a weir - river ford, comes from the historical name of the crossing over the Vltava near today's Charles Bridge.

Well, what about our Polish Praga? Where does this name come from?

Praga - is a historic area covering the right bank of Warsaw. The name derives from the word "roast", which means the burning of the forest that was densely covered at that time.

So, the origin of the name "Praga" is different from that of Czech Prague!

We will see what impressions the city, famous for its beauty and invariably filled with tourists, will provide us with.

Easter in a secularized country in a very high percentage will look completely different than that in our country with GREAT traditions of celebrating all catholic holidays!
