Wet Monday

In the folk tradition, the second day of Easter is called Wet Monday. Then they practice sprinkling with water. In Slavic times, this custom symbolized the spring cleansing of dirt and diseases. Our southern neighbors have been beaten with pomlázki, which was supposed to heal and provide vitality.

- In the Czech Republic there is no wet Monady. In the Czech Republic, the name of Easter Monday is practically the same as in our country and it is Velikonoční pondělí. There, no one runs after the ladies with water. There is a custom called pomlázek. The boys run around with pomlázki, the kind of willow switches that girls dart along their legs. The origin of the custom is similar to pouring water on Poles. There is only one exception to these pomlázki. In leap years, it is not boys who run after girls, but vice versa.

Wet Monday is also known in Ukraine. However, this custom is subject to certain modifications. Girls are doused not only with water, but also with perfumes. The tradition is known in western Ukraine and Podole.

Songkran festival. It is the largest water festival in Asia andit  is a celebration of the New Year.

Anyone who wants to join can do so in an instant. Visitors and locals jump into this crazy water fight by holding buckets of water, bottles or water guns. It certainly seems like a great entertainment, but you have to remember about clothes and cell phone, because the "festival" can harm them.
