We spent this afternoon (28°C) in Świnoujście. Driving 50 km from Dziwnów towards the island of Uznam, we saw huge, new investments on the S3 route from Wolin to Świnoujście. They impress with the scope of road works. Embankments, viaducts, detours and all temporary difficulties for drivers are crowned with a beautiful entrance to the tunnel under Świna.
After decades of ferry crossings from the island of Wolin to the island of Uznam to reach the city, we finally have a very well-organized access to the center of Świnoujście.
The whole city beautifully presents its renovated houses. Not only those on the promenade, but also the less attractive ones. Attention is drawn to the cleanliness of the streets, organized car parks and general order in the city with a lot of greenery, flowers and a little less kitschy stalls than in other seaside towns.
The seaside part is a quiet zone, so you can't hear roaring music or singing street performers.
We only heard a concert of a young pianist who would collect extra money by playing Chopin's works on the promenade.
We cannot be surprised that the city invests in huge, multi-star hotels, because it attracts those "with cash".
I think Świnoujście is worth at least a one-day trip or a stay in a good spa or hotel.
