This summer on the Odra river
The last day of summer brought us hot weather on Sunday...
Continuing the story of the city on the Oder, we're on the eastern bank of the river, a place that proves that this is where you can feel like you're on holidays relaxing regardless of the season.
So, eventually we've managed to bring the city closer to the river, but you have to "cross" to the other side to reach the attractions there.
The sight feom "the other" embankment:
Here are a few stories selected from the internet:
Łasztownia -
…is a part of the city of Szczecin, and at the same time, a river island…
The Łasztownia waterfront in Szczecin is part of the Oder River boulevards, which have undergone revitalization and are a popular meeting and strolling spot for residents and tourists, offering attractions such as an amusement park with a mill wheel. This area is being developed as part of the "Łasztownia – New Heart of the City" project.
It is on this mysterious island in the very center that the new heart of Szczecin is being born.
Today's Łasztownia is a completely different place than the closed port island of a few years ago. Once a secluded, mysterious space, it is now one of the favorite destinations for walkers, runners, cyclists, and fans of good coffee and cuisine from around the world.
The gradually renovated buildings of the former butcher's complex, the historic port cranes, the new boulevards, cafes, restaurants, the yacht port, and above all, major events attract crowds to Łasztownia. This is where the Cultural Center of the Euroregion Stara is located. The Slaughterhouse, the Maritime Centre, and the Cranezours.
Further investments and projects are ahead of us, which will ultimately implement the winning concept from the international competition for the island's development vision.
Strolling along the waterfront of Łasztownia, with a bit of luck, you'll smell the chocolate emanating from the Gryf chocolate factory located there.
In Łasztownia, you have the unique opportunity to encounter the unconventional monument to Krzysztof Jarzyna. He's the fictional character from the cult Polish comedy "Coyote Morning" from 2001, directed by Olaf Lubaszenko. The character, known as the "Boss of All Bosses," is equally unique.
Equally unique here is the monument to the iconic Szczecin Paprykarz…
From Łasztownia, we naturally head to neighboring Grodzka Island, which attracts visitors both young and old with its beach, beach bar, and numerous events aimed at families, dancefloor kings, and outdoor cinema enthusiasts.
