French Riviera - Saint-Tropez

We headed east from Marseille to satisfy our positive snobbery and see what's going on in the most famous spots on the French Riviera.

And so, we visited Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Nice, and Monte Carlo.

It's a long trip for one day, but well worth the fourteen-hour effort. In total, we covered over 600 km by car.

Saint-Tropez is certainly worth a visit, not just because it's world-famous. In Poland, we all know this name for several reasons:

It's where Briggite Bardot lives,

Today's BB you have to google!

it's where the famous gendarme Luis de Funès starred,

and it's where the most beautiful yachts moor. Today we watched the annual Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez regatta, which attracts the world's largest tall ships and hundreds of sailing enthusiasts.

Those with patience can meet stars such as Kate Moss, Rihanna, Beyoncé with Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, and Leonardo di Caprio.

Saint means holy, but who is St. Tropez? Torpes of Pisa, also known as the Christian martyr, was the guardian of Emperor Nero and became a martyr for his faith.

His body, head separated from torso, was supposed to be loaded onto a boat along with a rooster and a dog to be eaten. The boat was to be floated down the Arno River. According to the most popular legend, the boat was supposed to cross the Ligurian Sea and reach the shores of Provence intact, hence the name of this place.

Are these stories enough to make it worth coming here?
