High and low tides
As we already described, Nosy Be is a small island, yet in various parts of the island, ocean tides play a significant role in choosing a vacation destination.
We wondered whether these tides had anything to do with our mood:
"Tides, as a physical phenomenon, do not directly affect the human body.
However, their rhythm and consequences (the sound of waves, the changing landscape) have a strong psychological impact: they relax, improve mood, increase empathy and a sense of security.
Regular time by the sea – even short walks on the beach – can be a form of natural therapy that supports mental and physical health."
Where the tides are high, it's not a paradise for snorkelers and swimmers.
We're in the central west of the island, with high tides. This makes it more peaceful and less crowded.
To the north, Andilana lies, just 10 km from our Ambaro, where the tides are much lower and there's plenty of space for all kinds of water sports and adventures.

Here, there are no loud teenagers or playful children.
The phenomenon of tides is fascinating, and I recommend those interested to visit AI.
Here's some basic information:
"Ocean tides are the regular, predictable rise (high tide) and fall (low tide) of sea water, caused by the gravitational forces of the Moon and Sun and the Earth's rotation. This phenomenon occurs cyclically, usually twice a day (high tide and low tide approximately every 6 hours), shaping coastlines and being crucial for navigation."

We have daily updates on local tides:
