In Krakow's places of memory
At my request, my cousin Grzegorz drove us to the Rakowicki Cemetery, where, in addition to the Section of Meritorious Poles, lies the grave of my immediate and extended family from the Kaliciński family.

Our moments of reflection were intensified (?) by the loud bells from a nearby chapel, where Sunday Mass, broadcast throughout the cemetery, was beginning.
Among the many graves of Great Poles, we visited the grave of Wisława Szymborska, who had requested to be buried here among the numerous graves of Krakow residents, rather than in the Avenue of Merit in Warsaw.

Adek and I happily accepted the offer to drive to the Kościuszko Mound.

While enjoying a dessert and coffee at the foot of the Mound, we discussed the low level of knowledge and respect for one of our greatest national heroes – Tadeusz Kościuszko.
If it weren't for his successes in America, he would likely be even less well-known here in Poland. I hope the great Polish film "Blackbird" (Kos) has brought Poles at least a little closer to this hero. And we don't have many such greats in history.

Czemu tak rzadko bywacie w Krakowie ?
