Lapa

Before lying on one of the beaches (about them later on), we are visiting the popular districts of Rio.

Lapa is one of them. There are no beaches, nor beautiful lady models clad in skimpy bikinis, nor those comely young men flexing their freshly tortured muscles at the gym. This is about something more interesting: the sound of samba, forró, and choro. A favorite meeting place of artists, creators and curious tourists, where the music is blaring throughout the night.

Unfortunately, due to the large distance of the district from ours - Ipanema, we visited Lapa during the day only.

The Selarón Stairs (named after their Chilean creator) in the centre of Lapa, and the aqueduct from the colonial times are the attractions of the area around the clock ...
