In the City Centre

Since today there is no sunshine, we're going to the City Center.

The Rio underground system is in a constant expansion, so the journey on foot, by bus and by metro takes over an hour.

Cariocas have a strong need for a commitment to modernity, so in a frenzy expansion of the city, they demolished the old buildings (from the colonial times - because they wwere not glorious for them) and in their place built the new ones. So, there’s not so much of originality in the Rio centre’s architecture.

The Metropolitan Cathedral can accommodate 200,000 worshipers! The Municipal Theatre is one of the most beautiful in the South American continent.

Lunchtime is a good opportunity to have a look at the city life.

Attention: The last two photos are not meant for the kids!
