Bangkok first

We got to Bangkok via Helsinki with Finnair.

Traditionally, here we begin our travel in Southeast Asia. We get organized here and get rid of the jet-lag.

Today we are going to the ancient capital of the kingdom of Thailand - Ayuttaya. The Kingdom existed in the years 1330-1767 .

The most interesting observation of the day was a celebration dedicated to a recently deceased person. For the reason, a bunch of family and friends gathered in a Buddha’s temple and after  depositing an appropriate offer, each person received a multi-metre long sort of shawl of some orange fabric. Everyone listened to the prayers led by a monk, then some temple helpers of a huge Buddha statue would take the folded shawl from each participant and  throw it up into the hands of other helpers standing right next to the figure. Again each person received one end of the fabric and the other ends were pulled all the way up by special ropes to wrap the image of Buddha's. Eventually, all the prayers got covered with the big shawl.

It's hard to describe the tradition unknown to us, hopefully the photos will illustrate the ceremony.

The whole ceremony lasted about 30 mins and impressed the tourists visitors to the temple.
