Towards Bagan

Waking up time: 05:00. Leaving for the Ayeyarwady River jetty.

The Ayeyarwady is a Burma’s main river flowing from the  north to south, connecting bigger towns, and it goes into the Andaman Sea.

We are travelling from Mandalay to Bagan. According to the schedule the voyage should take 9 hours, but because of the low waters it can become longer.

And it does. In spite of permanent measurement of the depth (two boatmen pick the bottom with long sticks), we hit the ground and get stuck for another 30 minutes.

We get modest breakfast on board and later on a mediocre lunch accompanied by a German who insists on  treating us as a father and son, though we claim otherwise…

As of now, we keep sailing. It's 11 hours since we left... We are heading for Nyaung U - next to Bagan,

We are usinf our SIM card to make the entries. We do not count the cost.  What one wouldn't do for friends!
