Palma de Mallorca is the capital and largest city of the Balearic Islands and the island of Mallorca (Balearic Islands got their name from ancient Greeks after the Greek word slingshot, because it was a weapon of the local tribes).
The city is one of the biggest tourist centers of the world. Palma de Mallorca is also known for its nightlife and a number of clubs, bars, restaurants and discos.
Fortunately for us, in January, off-season, Palma is almost deserted. The only drawback - many bars are closed for the winter.
This historic city has numerous tourist attractions, including the Cathedral (built in the period 1230-1600).
Since it happened that today ismy birthday - we are spending it enjoying eating seafood during the day in our hotel apartment, of a standard more than modest (the hotel, not the seafood), and in the evening in the bar, tasting Spanish tapas.
Tapas (tapa in Spanish is a cover, lid) - small snacks usually accompanying a drink in the bars of Spain. They can be served hot or cold and take many forms - from simple snacks to more sophisticated dishes.
