We decide to go out to dinner.
We choose the premises of our Khmer friend - "Park Inn" (bar and guesthouse). His name is Sopheap .
We are pleased that many people remembered us, recognized us and even "knew" our names.
The purpose of the visit was of course is an invitation to the opening of "Chameleon". Our host accepted it and treated us a beer to the ordered dinner.
We talked a bit about common matters and use Sopheap’s advice.
He introduced to us his hotel guest Chhaya , who was born in France and now is visiting the country of his Khmer father who emigrated to France during the Khmer Rouge terror and married a French women. They have got four adult children.
It is hard not to notice that Chhaya confirms with his appearance that racial mixtures combine the most interesting beauty traits of both races. He is a nice talker.
He speaks excellent English, which is not so obvious among the native French.
During a long conversation, we learned a lot about the fate of the Khmer emigrants, whose problems are not alien to our "expats", only there is one more problem of the skin colour….
We returned home late at night and admired new investments: new restaurants and supermarkets, which is new here.
We are happy when these investments are made by the Khmer and not the Chinese.
This problem will continue to come up in our follow-up stories.
