The capitak for a change

The capital! The capital city!

After a six-month’s stay in the province, we wanted to breathe in the atmosphere of a big city.

Phnom Penh is growing at a rapid pace. It has all the advantages and disadvantages of the metropolis. However, it has its own big disadvantage: there is a huge traffic of cars and motorcycles, and consequently an overwhelming smog. The exhaust fumes irritate the eyes and throat. The air is deadly.

The traffic itself got somehow organized: at most intersections there are lights (in 2011 there were only two!) and drivers comply with this requirement. In Kampot there are lights at two intersections, but they are only suggestions for drivers ...

After the noise in Kampot, the one in the capital does not impress us.

The illumination of the city is absolutely impressive, though. On the main streets, the billboards are flashing with colours, and the big avenues impress with their lighting.

The city is alive until late. In Kampot after 9pm there is silence. Only the dogs bark ...

We had dinner in the restaurant "Pelican" run by a Polish lady. In the pictures you can see many similarities between this place and " The Chameleon", but I leave the rating it to you.

The menu is interesting with many Polish dishes and pastries. Unfortunately, you can see the occupational burnout after five years of running this place.
