Sleepy morning Szczecin

As you can see, Szczecin is slowly waking up to life. At 9:30 am the station is empty  There is no bustle of tourists and excursions. Among the few passengers you can hear the Ukrainian or Russian language.

Well, we are not a metropoly or even a large railway junction.

An interesting architectural feature is the station itself. Its former postmodern building got disturbed in its uniformity by modern ideas of architects ...

"Szczecin Główny - the most important station in Szczecin, located within the Nowe Miasto estate between Krzysztof Kolumba and Owocowa Streets. One of the oldest railway stations in Poland. According to the PKP classification, the station has the highest Premium category. "

What is the "premium" based on? And does such qualification mean for passengers?

"In 1836, the Construction Committee of the Berlin-Szczecin Railway was founded in Berlin. The line was created in 1842, and the first train from Berlin entered the station with the then name Berliner Bahnhof,  on August 15, 1843. (...)

(...) Around 1900 the station building was built, which after many reconstructions after the destruction of World War II exists until today. "

"(...) The modernization of the Szczecin Main Railway Station should be completed next year. Comprehensive work is currently underway on platform 2. There are also plans to reconstruct platform 3 and 4. This is to be one of the most beautiful and modern stations in Poland. "

We are waiting impatiently ...

    Śpieszy człowiek na dworzec
