New week - new bicycle routes

From the morning - heat. At 10:30 - 35 ° C!

There is nothing else to do but hide in the backwoods of the forest. The route over 16 km has given us a toll, because those backwoods mean riding on paths full of tree roots and sharply rising hills.

A moment of breathing on the wild beach of Goplana Lake.

"Goplana Lake or Goplana Lake (until 1945 German Sand See) - a pond in Szczecin, located in the north-western part of the city (Arkoński Forest Park), in the district of Głębokie, in the vicinity of the Arkonka municipal bathing area.

An Arkonka stream escapes into the lake. In the 20th century, there was a bathing beach, which was liquidated over time. Reservoir currently stocked. Bathing is forbidden. Sandy beaches and a clearing by the lake (with a place to light fires) are a stop on hiking and cycling trails.

There are cross-country herds, coots, greater grebes, mute swans and gulls (in the evenings gray herons, waders and snipes)."

We go further and watch the Arkonka bathing area behind the fence. Fun for kids, but the noise is unbearable!

Arkonka

"Arkonka (formerly Świtezianka, until 1945 German Martin See) - a former lake in Szczecin, now a swimming pool, located in the north-western part of the city (Arkoński Forest Park), in the district of Głębokie. There is a yellow tourist trail near the "Arkoński" Forest Park and a bicycle path nearby.

Currently, there is a municipal swimming pool, created at the beginning of the 20th century in a basin drying out lakes. In the southern part of the lake there was a watermill with demolition time (German: Steinfurther Mühle) [2]. In 2014, a thorough modernization of this bathing area was completed. At this time, Arkonka became one of the largest outdoor water complexes in Europe.

Recreation Complex "Arkonka" (this is the official name of the bathing beach) covers an area of 7 hectares.

Where did this name come from?
