Time to start the festival!

The festival has started. Every day there are 12 - 13 films screened in two large tents and one in open air - on the Small Market Square.

The program includes new films from 2017-2019 and a retrospective of Kazimierz Kutz and Marco Belocchio’s*.

We all have a typical festival dilemma what to choose not to miss something valuable.

We are in a six-person group - we make individual choices and then exchange impressions.

We limit ourselves to 2-3 movies a day!

The weather is perfect. It is very warm, but the heat does not bother as the sky is quite cloudy.

An afternoon walk from our Góra through the Kazimierz Dolny ravine - one of the most impressive loess ravines in the area* - led us to the city, to the "Przystanek Korzeniowa"Inn.

The night session was “Be autiful boy" (USA) about the love of a son and father, strongly disturbed by the drug addiction of the young man. Without a reply, the question remains: will the father, after many unsuccessful attempts to get his son out of the addiction, manage to finally save him?

* Marco Bellocchio is an Italian author of feature, documentary and short films, both for television and cinema, covering a wide range of genres and themes. His work has a personal character, reflecting his uncompromising views and artistic ambitions. During his 50 years of creative work, Bellocchio questioned prevailing ideologies confronting the church with the radical left and challenging concepts such as morality and family in a way that made him one of the most important Italian artists and, together with Bernardo Bertolucci and Pier Paolo Pasolini, a leading figure in culture for the next generations of Italians.

* The surroundings of Kazimierz Dolny are distinguished by the highest density of loess ravines within the Land of Loess Wąwóz. Medieval Kazimierz was the place of crossing the Vistula and an important river port, hence many roads were created that were conducive to the formation of ravines. The system of Kazimierz gorges is very branched, the Norowy Dół and Kamienny Dół are flowing into the Vistula valley, and to the Grodarz valley, among others: Plebanka, Chałajowy Dół and Doły Podmularskie.

In the vicinity of these, there were numerous picturesque road gorges, or districts. The most famous Kazimierz gorge in the form of deep hole is the Korzeniowy Dół. The gorge is about 500 meters long and has a nature trail. The most beautiful is the middle section of the ravine, where the walls have a height of even 5-8 meters, and the roots of the trees hang from the walls. The edges of the ravine are overgrown with old oak-lime-hornbeam trees. It is a favourite place of tourists, perfect for a souvenir photo.
