Alcalá de Henares.

Enough lazing around. Time to start the sightseeing.  We begin in the evening to avoid the heat of the day.

First, Alcalá de Henares.

„Alcalá de Henares - a city in Spain on the Henares River, in the Madrid region. It is located 30 km from Madrid. The city is one of the oldest in Spain, therefore its historic center has been inscribed on the World Heritage List.

The city's central square is called Plaza de Cervantes, which houses the Cervantes Museum. The city has many tourist attractions, you can find traces of Roman and Muslim culture, as well as various trends and epochs of European culture.

The city with the most numerous Polish diaspora in Spain, created as a result of the first wave of economic migration after 1989. In 2001, there were about 4,000 inhabitants of Polish origin in the city, but only 1,536 permanently registered. In 2019, there were 1,331 permanent Polish residents.”

This week, the locals celebrate the City Days, hence the streets are full of people and music until late at night. On Tuesday!
