KONTRAPUNKT day III

In the "Mały Theater", on the Bogusława promenade, the monodrama "Kill the President" performed by the actor of the Współczesny Theater - Arkadiusz Buszko.

The actor plays the role of the killer himself - Niewiadomski.

We, the viewers have to judge whether he is defending or condemning the assassin.

Does he just want to explain the motives of the crime or justify them?

Finally, the most important question; Is Niewiadomski's biography a warning to us?Today?

“For some a psychopath to be condemned, for others an object of worship and an unmatched model. The play about Eligiusz Niewiadomski, the killer of the first Polish president, Gabriel Narutowicz, is an attempt to understand man, look for analogies, references to the present day and seek answers to the question - what is the right key to understanding the essence of this murder? Why did Niewiadomski, a Pole, a Catholic, father and husband, a valued artist, think that he was saving the country? For whom - and why, if at all - he became a hero ...? The play by Piotr Rowicki, directed by Piotr Ratajczak with Arkadiusz Buszka as Niewiadomski, is another artistic collaboration of this trio. "

It was with great pleasure watching one of my favourite Szczecin actors, who brilliantly recreated the controversial character of Narutowicz's killer.

And then again in "Pleciuga", in the main competition:

"BigMouth"

from Antwerp, Belgium

“He who chooses his words well can make the weakest argument the strongest. There is no absolute truth. This is just a pretty lie for those who want power over the world or just the hand of a loved one.

In his masterful performance, Valentijn Dhaenens pays tribute to 2,500 years of oratory. Brilliantly weaving together fragments of groundbreaking speeches by characters such as the Grand Inquisitor, Socrates, Mohammed Ali and Osama Bin Laden, Bigmouth shows that the rhetorical gimmicks have not changed much.

Standing on an empty stage with only five microphones in front of him, Dhaenens with incredible energy traverses sermons, declaring war speeches, farewells, containing final arguments, speeches winning and panegyrics from different times. "

Whatever we say, whatever we want to convey to others, whatever we want to achieve by speaking - one thing is certain - the story has been repeated over the ages - everything has already been said!

The greatest value of the performance was the brilliant acting of the Belg.
