Although the performers announce that the presentation is not theater, it is not enough to justify why they are there at the Festival of Small Forms KONTRAPUNKT!!!
"Virtual Ritual"
"An original spectacle, referring to the experience of the game, which takes viewers to the parallel world of online video games (MMOG). It is an exploration of the digital community made up of millions of people all over the world logging into huge game worlds every day.
Virtual spaces offer users endless possibilities of functioning without having to respect the limitations of ordinary, difficult reality. Yet each game has its own rules. Urbanist Osamu Okamura, YouTuber Atlet, photographer and gamer Adéla Vosičková: the three performers will create a panel of gaming experts to reveal the hidden mechanisms, patterns and rituals that shape the seemingly endless world of online video games. /.../
The performance juxtaposes a real and a virtual city. The first part takes us to the game world, is based on the study of the rules governing MMOG games. The following "site-specific" part expands the play area to the space surrounding the place of performance. The performers still navigate themselves as avatars, this time in real space, what is more, they reveal the conventionality and artificiality of the rules according to which the "real" society is organized and explore aspects of the functioning of such key institutions as banks or city management institutions analogous to those in the world of games."
After 10 minutes of watching the "advertisement" of a well-known computer game, I left the already not too full audience of the Pleciuga Theater, disapproving of this type of performance.
There was NOTHING from the theater there!
I believe that in the audience there were also those for whom the world of games is a lifetime, so maybe they learned something more ...
