Paris

Could we with this trip to Paris end the sad period of the pandemic during which we did not even have the courage to plan any trips longer than one day?T

Two years of a depressing break in our tourist life made us miss to travel to the world.

As it happened, Paris was one of the first capitals I saw, still from outside of the Iron Curtain.

Today, the capital of France again. We have great expectations...

Travelers from Szczecin to the West are glad that the airport in Berlin is easier to reach than the one in Warsaw.

Of course, we also recognize Brandenburg as our local airport. But it's not always easy to get there.

Especially during the pandemic. Tourist traffic in March '22 is so scarce that carriers have limited bus trips to a minimum and it is simply impossible to adjust their timetable to the departure and arrival times of a plane from Paris.

We decide to go by car, which, due to the fuel prices and the price of the parking lot at the airport, significantly increases the cost of the trip.

But what is not done to satisfy your intellectual needs ...

As I wrote in the entry in the List of Travels, our goal is an exhibition at the Luis Vuitton Foundation Museum Gallery. Before I write about the exhibition and the works that can be seen there, now about the Foundation itself.

”There are many different museums and art galleries in the world. However, there are not so many places that are really friendly to both visitors and artists. The Louis Vuitton Foundation Museum is such a unique place, which aims especially to promote contemporary art. The founder of this extraordinary place is the French businessman Bernard Arnault, who is also the president of the LVMH concern, i.e. Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy. This brand brought him not only fame, but also great money. His high influence has given him the opportunity to develop a deeper interest in art and for years he has also been a well-known art collector. No wonder that a man with such a great influence decided to share his passion with the world and show his unique collection. The museum was opened in 2014 in Paris, in the famous Boulon Forest. The amazing, modern building was designed by the famous and respected American architect Frank Gehry. It resembles a glass ship with sails, and the creator himself claims that it was modeled on 19th-century frame structures. The construction of the building itself was not without controversy. It was opposed by a large part of the inhabitants of Paris. The cost of implementation was over EUR 100 million. The permanent art collection that can be admired at the Louis Vuitton Foundation Museum has many valuable works of art. First of all, it is rich in contemporary and modernist art. There we can admire the works of Pablo Picasso, Olafur Eliasson, Yves Klein, Sarah Morris, Taryn Simon, Agnes Martin and Ellseworth Kelly, among others. It is worth emphasizing, however, that this museum is not only spaces to admire finished works of art. It is also a great place to exchange knowledge, experiences and conduct interesting discussions in the field of culture. The Louis Vuitton Foundation is located in the Boulon Forest, in an unusual building in the shape of a glass ship. The architect himself claims that the shape is to symbolize the culture-creating mission of Paris. The construction of the foundation's building aroused controversy and objections from Parisians, reportedly 100 million (!) Euros were spent on it. Despite many objections, the foundation was opened in 2014. "
