Legends give colour to the regions

Lochness had its own monster ... Ińsko has its Big Cancer!

“This extraordinary creature is shrouded in a true legend and although no one has heard of it for a long time, the monument to the terrible cancer, which spoiled the blood of the inhabitants of Insko, can be admired today on the lake shore. Cancer chained to a pole still haunts ...

The legend says that centuries ago the lake was inhabited by a huge crayfish, some say that it was the size of a bull, others that just seeing it you could faint from fear. The fact is that the cancer sometimes crawled out of the lake, with great scissors it was cutting trees and attacking people who, in fear and terror, sought shelter in their homes. However, even seemingly safe houses were not able to stop the wild beast - the cancer destroyed the walls and began to destroy the houses of the inhabitants of Insko, who did not know how to get rid of the monster.

Finally, the more courageous ones decided to hunt him - they built a huge net of steel, but it did not stop the cancer - it only took a moment for him to chop the net into pieces and continue to wreak havoc in the town. And here appears the heroic blacksmith who, like Dratewka, a shoemaker, decided to set a trap for cancer. The young man forged a mighty chain in his forge, then set sail with a few daredevils to the lake and found a place where the cancer used to sleep. In a silence so strong that not even the fly buzzed - the boys wrapped the crayfish's tail with one end of the chain and placed the other firmly at the bottom of the lake.

Since then, the cancer has not been able to free itself from the trap, he fights until the earth shakes, and the lake is covered with huge waves - but his efforts were of no avail, because the young blacksmith knew his trade for a long time and made a chain from which not even a beast like giant cancer can break free.

The inhabitants slowly came back to life, rebuilt the destroyed houses and today they only sometimes mention that somewhere, at the bottom, the cancer is still sleeping ... "
