Gorzów has a beautiful philharmonic hall and a tradition of organizing festivals.
The inauguration of the 10th Contemporary Music Festival took place there on October 6.
I thought it was a good opportunity to participate in the event, see (for the first time) this temple of high culture in Gorzów, and listen to a wonderful sacred piece by Wojciech Kilar.
(...) "Missa pro pace" is permeated with the spirit of the medieval church music mentioned by the composer - the mood of meditation, contemplation and prayerful concentration predominates in it. Singing and liturgical text came to the fore, complemented by a modest set of simple compositional techniques, which was intended to serve conscious archaization. (…)”
Missa pro pace, or mass for peace, has an always current message. As life and the events of recent months show, prayers can calm the spirit, but they will do nothing to bring peace to the world. Unfortunately.
