The first evening at the Philharmonic in the new artistic season

We have begun another musical season at the Szczecin Philharmonic with great expectations.

Przemysław Neumann, the new general and artistic director, has inspired our confidence with his performances last season, and we believe the 2025/26 season will be even better.

On the Philharmonic website:

"The inauguration of the artistic season is not just a celebratory evening – it is the beginning of a conversation that will last for many months. A conversation in which music takes center stage. However, it does not speak with words – it speaks with emotion, tension, silence, and sound. That is why we open this season with works that give voice in a special way to what is difficult to express – longing, fear, mourning, but also hope and love. Works that were written when their creators had already completed a long journey in life.

Antonín Dvořák's Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104, (...) is one of his last symphonic works. Dvořák, previously unconvinced of the cello's potential as a solo instrument, has created a masterpiece – not only technically impressive but deeply human.(...)

The solo part will be performed by Bruno Philippe – one of the most outstanding cellists of the younger generation, whose talent has been recognized at prestigious competitions, including the ARD in Munich and the Tchaikovsky Competition. (…)

Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74, Pathetique, had its premiere on October 28, 1893, in St. Petersburg. Nine days later, the composer died. (…)

And that's precisely what this symphony is – atypical, reversing the classical order. Instead of a spectacular finale, we have a dramatic climax in the third movement, followed by the fourth – slow, quiet, and heartbreaking. Tchaikovsky ends his work like an unsigned letter – not loudly, but truly.

(…)

It is with this voice that we open the new season. Let this be the beginning of a conversation that – though wordless – will last throughout the next year."

In both parts of the concert the orchestra was conducted by maestro Przemysław Neumann.

It was a truly excellent opening concert!

It provided us with many positive emotions. And the emotion on the conductor's face at the end of the second half of the concert, accompanied by tremendous applause from the audience, demonstrated how important his and his orchestra's work is to our city.

I regret that photography is not permitted during the concert and I cannot show you how beautiful this cultural event was.

I'm attaching a few of our personal photos from before and after the concert to show you our new image.
