On the way to Bangkok

Despite the gray and drizzly weather, we arrived at Berlin Airport in good spirits and on schedule.

We fortified ourselves with non-Italian pizza and a good German beer.

Full of anticipation for the next attractions, we didn't even notice when we landed in Istanbul (after a 2.5-hour flight). We appreciated the good service of the cabin crew and worried about whether we would have enough time to transfer to the flight to Bangkok.

We were worrying completely unnecessarily!!

After getting off the plane, the display showed that our flight to Bangkok was delayed by four hours.

This meant we'd miss our flight from Bangkok to our destination in Thailand – Krabi – and other minor expenses.

So, we bought a new ticket for the morning flight from Bangkok, booked a hotel near the airport for a few hours (because a second night in a soft chair is no fun!), and calmed our slightly frayed nerves with drinks and a meal at the airport lounge.

What fun would traveling be if everything went according to plan, right?
