A dozen or so hours before our scheduled trip to Warsaw's Okęcie Airport, Szczecin had been paralyzed for three days... with ice clinging to the electric tram tracks, and the trains throughout the region were either suspended or delayed by several hours.

The uncertainty about whether our train would leave Szczecin lasted all night.
We made it!
We reached the capital with only a few minutes' delay.
We arrived safely in Cairo and were able to end the day at the hotel by 2 a.m.
