The city by the Chao Phraya River

Banding through się northern and western parts of the city, the big Chao Phraya River, whose waters have done so much harm to the country (the previous flooding happened over 50 years ago), serves the inhabitants of Bangkok, among other things, as a transportation road.

A net of quick boats effciently connects main northern and southern neighbourhoods of the city, which gives tourists en easy access to the important sights.

On both embankments of the river there are many historic buildings as ell as important governmental institutions.

Using this way of sightseeing you must pay attention to where and when you want to get off and promptly leave the boat (jump off, better said). A moment of inattention or delay in making decision of getting off, and you will stay aboard while the others of your party will go ashore ... . Time is money, life is not for stragglers.

Shame to admit but this happened to us last year. It was I who stayed behind on board while Adek and the guide jumpped off ashore.  We got separated for over two hours trying to figure out how to find each other again. Richer in the experience, now we have two telephones each: the Polish one and still anther one with a local SIM card.

Here is the tip for potential travellers to Thailand: right after arrival, before the passport control, look for some beautiful girls offering complimentary welcome SIM cards with a few impulses. The card can be charged at a little cost in one of numerous "7-11" shops. It's a comfortable security against possible getting lost.

The pictures show what you mustn't omit visiting the city from the river.
