Borough Market and Brick Lane

Do you want to know how look like a hipster? In London hipsters are everywhere, but most likely you can peep into their pop culture in Brick Lane.

The history of this street and the surrounding area is similar to many other boroughs of large cities, which are first occupied by artists, outcasts and other dissenters, because are distant  from the mainstream of the city and are cheaper. Then neighborhoods are becoming trendy and famous, and so appear in them the curious and ubiquitous tourists. The main tenants move to other places, because the did not take the area to be watched.

The same happened with the neighborhood around Brick Lane.

Today, tourists and those who hunt for cheaper exotic food on the local bazaars prevail in it.

The borough and Brick Lane itself is decorated with works of Banksy: with his  provocative sculptures and courageous murals.

Banksy (probably Robert Banks), is a very well known street artist. Some of his works are of a great value and some of the broken into pieces were sold at auctions for £ 400,000. His street art appears throughout the world and is easily recognizable.

Several of his works have been caught by the eye of our camera.

The latest architectural baby of London is the Shard. It has become another attraction gathering tourists who for substantial amounts of money can watch London from a great height and have a drink at the bar in the clouds.

Close to the Shard there is Borough Market - a foodies dream; it’s one of the oldest and most respected markets in London with fine British and International produce from around the world. If you are looking something exotic to eat or want to sample to finest organic produce money can buy, Borough Market is the place to go.

With its unique atmosphere and alluring smells, you would be silly not to visit Borough Market if you happen to find yourself near the Shard, as it’s literally just down the road!
