Las Palmas

To begin with, it's not canaries but dogs that gave the name of the archipelago of the Canary Islands.

Its name Canary Islands owe to their dogs (from the Latin. Canis), which was home to great herds of those on the island. Only the name of the island gave name to a bird - a canary.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Las Palmas usually called) is a city situated in the Canary Islands and belongs to the province of Las Palmas (Spain). It is situated in the north east of the island of Gran Canaria. It is the capital of the island, and also the capital of the Canary Autonomy, together  with the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Besides being the largest city in the Canary Islands (seventh in Spain), and also the capital of the province of Las Palmas.

The climate is does not provide abundant rainfall and the average temperature is 20 ° C.
