Maspalomas is the oldest tourist resort in the southern part of the island.
The place is known especially to local tourists for the hotels, beaches and dunes mostly in the Reserve Maspalomas.
In Maspalomas is situated a 68 meters high lighthouse Faro de Maspalomas. It is located at the southern end extending towards Playa del Inglés (Spanih: Beach oa an Englishman) a twelve-kilometre strip of beaches and dunes, with a nature reserve.
In areas reclaimed from the desert since the beginning of the planned large recreation center and mass tourism. at the end, Earlier were there attempts to grow tomatoes there, but the lack of fresh water made it unviable. During ten years, bought by some investors. the barren land sprouted many hotels, apartments and bungalows.

Asurprise for me (and this is a tradition in our aparthotel) was a pot of flowers, a bottle of champagne and a card from the management. That's all I found on the table in the living room. Naturally, I did not expect any delegation!
