New Year Eve's night at the Parliamenr buildings

Without  any difficulty we  get close to the Parliament House in Wiejska Street. On both sides of the street once again the police  set barriers which are being guarded by dozens of policemen. Close to the stage on a truck platform, more than a hundred people gathered. The time is 23:00.

At  the back of the stage there is a big banner:

COLOURFUL OPPOSITION.

The organizers of the protest are: KOD, PO, .NOWOCZESNA and DZIEWUCHY DZIEWUCHOM.

More or less well-known politicians express their New Year’s greetings and wishes from the stage. From time to time, one of the organizers warns the speakers  to keep their speexh down to one minute and asks them to reduce ito the  wishes only and keep away political announcements.

All requests are obeyed but the political contents are well  camouflaged and still express one wish: the year 2017 must bring the end to destruction of Poland!

The police’s  fairly tight cordon separates us from the street and thus the House of Parliament. Approx. 500 people arived to the scene. No  threat or danger is being felt. The oOrganizers once again repeat that this protest is non-alcoholic one! I think the people obey  the ban. We do for sure.

The organizers encourage us to the dance, as the temperature drops and it gets cold. It is a few degrees below zero. We are stomping to the rhythm of pop music.

The atmosphere is  pleasant and firndly; the people  exchange smiles; some of the protesters  (eg. from Lublin, Kaszuby and Tczew) get to the  microphone and say their greetings andwishes.

Everybody is looking at their watches.

In a short time the midnight will be with us.

Now, it it time for oficial wishes from the stage. Down there by the stage the people hug each other saying their wishe. Our thoughts go to our families and those who are on our behalf protest in the plenary hall of the Parliament.

On stage: Adam Michnik, Rose Thun, Michal Szczerba, Barbara Nowacka, Bogdan Borusewicz, and others. Everyone is  clearly emotionally touched.

And we all are thinking  one thing: it must come to an end!

Will it come to its end in 2017 ???

Now we are all invited to come again to the same place tomorrow at 6pm to sing together Christams carols and protest songs.
