Tombs at the hight of 1700 m.

The next stage on the way to Muscat is the way up the mountain massif (again from level zero) to a height of 1800 m, to see another group of tombs from the Bronze Age (!!).

This drive is a real challenge, the slope of the road is so steep that it is better not to wonder what it would be if ...

It really is a difficult path/trail even for cars with four-wheel drive, and yet it is the route connecting many small villages, that means that the locals have to use it daily (eg. driving children to school).

We, the passengers, "with our souls on his shoulder" were  glad that we arrived safely at the summit - the great plateau - and saw the tombs, and above all the 360 degrees fantastic view of the distant ocean from one side and a mountain rannge on the other.

The archaeologists have still not explained the whereabouts of the remains of the people buried here (animals?), But they have no doubt that they were the tombs.

Sure it was a punishment for their sin to be taken all the way up the hills.

And again we descend into the ocean level. The way down took more time, because nearly vertical roads require special driving techniques!

We managed well. This time.
