Angkor Borei - a school without support

We're going to Angkor Borei, where over a year ago we visited a school whose director was then Sophea.

Today the school is run by someone else because Sophea is in Takeo, which we saw yesterday.

The school in Angkor Borei is tiny and teaches very young children. They learn English with local teachers who cannot speak much themselves. But they have good intentions.

Angkor Borei (meaning: The Town of Borei), once the capital of the Funan empire, today is a village far away from the capital of the region - Takeo by about 100 km. You can also get there by water, but the transport is expensive.

We are just going by two fast boats and we reach Angkor Borei after 45 minutes.

We are about 10 km from the Vietnam border.

First, we visit the Phnom Da hill with a magnificent temple that indicates the permeation of Hindu religion and Buddhism.

We meet children at the school, who are quite accustomed to the  foreign visitors: they all ask: "What's your name?" And answer any  question with: "I am 6 years old". Cute.

Polish fudges break the ice and the children are happy.

It is a pity that we cannot help them more. It’s very difficult to acquire volunteers to work with the local children as the conditions  are more than modest and it’s far "to the world."
