Farewell to Bangkok

We have relaxed after the hardships of the Myanmar trips and now it's time to gather up for hitting the road again.

However, before we set off, we need to say good-bye to the city in which we've felt at home. Our Asian home.

We've discovered a neighbourhood which takes its name after the street: Khao San.

Going there we went along an avenue where annual parades  connected with the King Rama IX's birthday,

5th of December each year, take place.

This year the King asked not to celebrate his birthday due to poverty in some parts of the country caused by the flood.

Thai people have many reasons to love their king - a great democrat. But it's not he who rules the country.

We practically didn't know much about the place. Complete surprise. It's here where mainly young people get together from

all the walks of life. Those are not turists of dibs and that is why they found their paradise just there.

The neighbourhood's nick name is "the backpackers' town".

Guesthouse rooms are from 15 USD, good food from 2 USD. Fried hoppers, other crickets or insects 1 USD for 100g

And most importantly, cheap alcohol and shishas. Nowadays you don't need to trouble yourself drinking from a glass,

just order a bucket. The strength of the drink is made to order.

As it usually happens with the young, they do not always behave properly (whatever it means) and as a result you can hear

"global" noise, drunken shouting, and insecurity in the legs of some individuals. By the way, we haven't ever seen a drunken

Thai.

All this is extremely colourful and carries an atmosphere of freedom. Not only of conduct.

We too, let us carry with the atmosphere taking godd-buy to Bangkok with buckets of mojito and margarita.
