Day three. No 1 WTC Tower and Ground Zero Memorial

During every stay in New York, we come to Ground Zero to watch the progress in rebuilding and building this tragic place. We were in 2004, 2008, 2010 (by the way 10.04!), 2012, 2014 and today!

For the first time since opening, we entered the 102nd floor, One World Observatory.

WTC

"One World Trade Center (formerly under the name Freedom Tower) - one of the four New York skyscrapers that are part of the new complex, which was built on the site of the WTC office buildings destroyed in the 9/11 attack. The building was commissioned and officially opened 3 November 2014. Its height is 541 meters, or 1,776 feet, which symbolically mark the date of the United States Declaration of Independence. It is the tallest building in the United States. The second skyscraper will probably be completed in 2020, while the third skyscraper was built in 2017.

The currently adopted version of the skyscraper's appearance is the result of collaboration between Daniel Libeskind, David Childs and the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. During the ceremony of July 4, 2004 in the so-called A 20-ton granite slab was unveiled in the Zero Zone (Ground Zero) in New York's Lower Manhattan. It is the cornerstone that served for the construction of New York's tallest skyscraper, built on the site of the World Trade Center twin skyscrapers destroyed by terrorists on September 11, 2001.

The tower has 105 floors and 240,000 square meters of office space. The building was equipped with innovative, very wide stairwells for evacuation with a pressure installation that eliminates smoke."

After the emotions of riding to the 102nd floor in 50 seconds (!) and watching New York from above, we had to strengthen ourselves with lunch at a high altitude. It was expensive, but so what! There will be no second opportunity!

Then we paid tribute to the victims of the 9/11 tragedy (this is how Americans call this memorial monument and write the date). A white rose stuck in a forged name means birthday. The service plugs in the flower.

Emotion squeezed the throat!

09/11

Under the tree that survived the attack, today the President of Ukraine laid a wreath, and then walked around in guards. And so, here I have him in the photos.
