The Scales of the Turks

From the antiquity there was only a few kilometers to get to the sea, where the rich modernity has built beautiful holiday houses on a high cliff, and at the bottom there is a beautiful looooong sandy beach.

We are going to watch the "staircase" formed in the limestone cliff descending towards the sea.

"Scala dei Turchi (The Scales of the Turks) - a white limestone cliff on the seashore near Porto Empedocle, near Agrigento. The name refers to the Turkish pirates who sheltered in this place from storms."

We looked at the cliffs, drank a beer in the bar on a high up observation deck and we were glad that in May there are not many tourists here, because it would be irritatingly crowded in the high season!
