Brooklyn's ConeyIsland

Coney Island is a peninsular (not insular, though) residential neighbourhood, beach and attraction destination on the Atlantic Ocean in south-western Brooklyn. See the map to notice the distances from Manhattan, for example.  (At the very bottom of the map)

Coney Island has been very well known as the site of amusement parks and a seaside resort ever since 1880!

In 2012, Hurricane Sandy caused major damage to the Coney Island amusement parks. Luna Park at Coney Island reopened on March 24, 2013.
