Episode 48

Taming the Life. My Talks with Adrian

Episode 48

Talk forty seven.

Saint Augustine, Florida, 23rd March

- Finally, our dream, sunny Florida. The temperature went up a few degrees.

- Of the air. Not ours.

- Finally, a bit of a rest after hours in the car swallowing miles, traversing the U.S.

- Let it be holidays! Florida is perfect for this.

- Working on the blog "after hours" was sometimes exhausting a bit...

- Why did you choose St. Augustine for our first stop in Florida?

- Because it is beautifully situated on the Atlantic Ocean and it’s a city of high historical interest...

- You again!

- I’ll ignore your comment. It’s the oldest European settlement in the continental United States of 1565. There is the oldest school in America. And in recent history, it is an important fact that in 1963 took place a manifestation of the Ku Klux Klan members, right here. Here for the first time, Martin Luther King was arrested.

- And I like the location of the city along the coast. And along those two long islands, along that section of the coast, there’re beautiful sandy beaches, accompanied by mansions and expensive homes. However, the people who are interested or in need, can always find a more secluded place.

- These beaches are several kilometers long. And everywhere there’s beautiful sand. The ocean which is always turbulent, is not inviting for swimmers. You can play on the waves in shallow waters, and even that does not look as a very safe play.

- I'd be afraid to go into the water. I can hardly see any lifeguards here. The Baywatch people apparently work elsewhere.

- The sun burns mercilessly, and it is only March ...

- We are relaxing ...

- It is perfect...

- Well, is our relationship so perfect all the time?

- Again, you are provoking me with the question. No, our relationship is not perfect. We both live our own and shared ups and downs. I, at times, take offence when you address me with a raised voice, when you have something against me.

- I don’t control it, but I have no intention of hurting your feelings.

- You’re quite effective hurting me, anyway, despite these efforts. I too, sometimes am mad at you, but never, never speak to you with a raised voice.

- Apparently, I must be such an edgy person.

- You must work on it. There’s no reason to humiliate me. There’s no good reason to yell at me to let me know that you will not be repeating over and over again your computer instructions or fix my mistakes. Because I have to put up with it.

- Why do you have to?

- Guess why! For I love you!

- I love you too.

- Even when you complain that I drag you along everywhere or I don’t leave you any freedom? When you cry out that you don’t have anyone to talk to about motorbikes, computers? ...

- You’re exaggerating.

- Let me finish. You say that I constantly pick on you, I repeat myself, and I always get something into my head.

- Are these my words?

- I didn’t invent them. You also said once that you have had enough.

- I only said so.

- That's why nothing has really happened and now we’ve been talking with each other for thirteen years!

- Not only talking.

- How fortunately.

- Do you have anything else against me?

- As of today, it’s enough of this historical vetting revision.
